Jacob’s Well

One of my favorite Bible stories is Jesus’ encounter with the Samaritan woman at the well in John 4. In the story, Jesus breaks down the cultural, religious, and political walls of the time by offering living water to the Samaritan woman. In the midst of her thirst, Jesus offers grace. The woman then leaves her bucket behind to go tell the rest of the village about Jesus.

Today we got to visit this well which is just outside of the modern day city of Nablus. Bishop Goodpaster challenged us with the question, “what are you leaving behind in order to follow Jesus?” We then proceeded into the church and drank the water from the well.

It was a great way to end our day as we were all drawn toward Jesus. In the midst of our thirst, Jesus offered us water from the streams of life. Grace in action.

Tonight we are back in Jerusalem for the final 2 nights of our trip. Tomorrow we will visit the Mount of Olives and The Western Wall.
